The ICA/Boston exhibition Leap Before You Look: Black Mountain College, 1933–1957 focuses on how, despite its brief existence, Black Mountain College became a seminal meeting place for many of the artists, musicians, poets, and thinkers who would, in the postwar period, become influential and renown practitioners in their relative fields. The exhibition featured individual works by more than ninety artists, as well as student work, archival materials, a soundscape, a piano, and a dance floor for performances. I designed this brochure to accompany the robust performance and educational programs that took place within this expansive exhibition.
Working with Leila is a great pleasure. She’s a highly creative, organized, and clear-thinking designer who is always conscious of the delicate balance between how a design looks and how a design works.

Leila is a very talented graphic designer. She knows how to balance aesthetic concerns and the needs of the client. The design process was a true collaboration and uncommonly successful. I also appreciated her sense of humor and enthusiasm.
